Police in Detroit have started an 18-month project that involves officers cracking down on loitering, vagrancy, cracked windshields and other minor offenses to stem more violent crime. Chief Ralph Godbee says the department is incorporating “Broken Windows,” a decades-old method of community policing into his plans to tackle the city’s high crime rate.

State Police and police in Uniontown are investigating a string of vandalism. Between 40 and 50 vehicles had their windows broken in Uniontown, North Union Township and South Union Township.
