Auto Glass Safety Council Seeks Items for Auto Glass Week Silent Auction

The Auto Glass Safety Council (formerly the AGRSS Council Inc.) is inviting members of the auto glass community to donate items of value to be auctioned off at the Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC) Silent Auction at Auto Glass Week. The auction will be taking place Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Welcoming Cocktail Party.

Carleton Glass Plant Plans Upgrade

Guardian Industries Corp. plans to invest nearly $55 million in rebuilding one of the glass-making lines at its Carleton plant, a move that should preserve about 150 jobs, according to company officials.

JN Phillips Auto Glass Windshield Recycling Program Validated by Underwriters Laboratories Environment

Greenshield, the windshield recycling program from JN Phillips Auto Glass, has renewed its verification as a “Validated Auto Glass Reclamation Program” by Underwriters Laboratories Environment. The program was originally validated in 2011.

Amir Milijkovic, the owner of Prestige Auto Glass in College Park, Md., has been sentenced for his involvement in “conspiring to commit extortion under color of official right in a scheme involving the transport and distribution of untaxed cigarettes and alcohol.”

As the editorial editor of his school newspaper and an active volunteer in causes ranging from Muscular Dystrophy Association to Junior Achievement, Mark Liston had hoped to become a grade school teacher when he graduated from West High School in 1972. He liked the franchising industry and stayed with it, working with several more companies before joining the Glass Doctor in 2010 as vice president of operations. The auto glass repair and replacement franchising group has more than 300 locations in Canada and the U.S.; in December, he was named president.
