President Barack Obama’s auto industry recovery czar launched a two-day trip to auto-downturn-ravaged Michigan today and announced an expanded loan program that will aid state auto dealers and suppliers and give more than $10 million to Michigan for the redevelopment of old manufacturing sites.

Chrysler to File for Bankruptcy; Will Get "New Lease on Life," President Says

President Barack Obama announced today that after further consultation with his Automotive Task Force and review of Chrysler’s latest plan-submitted within the 30-day deadline provided at the end of March-it appears the company will be filing for bankruptcy.
