Richmond Community College and NSG North America are entering an agreement which requests RCC to provide safety, supervisory skills and equipment-specific training to 68 employees of the glass manufacturing industry.

The former Safelite employee who was suing the company for discrimination has filed a joint stipulation for dismissal. Safelite had denied the allegations made by a former Indiana technician, Michael Hill, who claimed his employment was wrongfully terminated due to his sex after an incident involving a damaged dashboard and a warranty issue. Hill claimed he was let go for not providing a warranty note to the customer and for not going back to fix the problem.

BMW has been hard at work refining its next-generation R57 MINI Cooper range. The new Cooper appears to be wider and lower than the current-gen R56 model, with more organic styling to emphasise each wheel-arch and give a more compact appearance to the car’s glasshouse.

The 2012 Annual Consolidated Financial Results from Nippon Sheet Glass (NSG) are reporting a decrease in profit and demand in the auto glass market. NSG says that high oil prices and the economic environment were main factors leading to a reduction in the number of miles driven. The company goes on to say that mild weather conditions also led to a reduction in glass breakage throughout the previous year.

A new study has found manufacturing employees in metro Toledo are paid a better average wage than their counterparts in any other part of the state. That expertise in manufacturing came from Toledo 100 years ago-from being a manufacturer of glass dishware to high-tech automotive glass, to fiber glass, now to having expertise in solar technologies.

A vacant former car dealership in north Bibb County is getting a new owner and a makeover. Minnesota-based ABRA Auto Body and Glass bought the former BMW dealership at 111 Riverside Parkway, and spent nearly four months renovating the building, said David Kulkis, regional business development director in Atlanta
