Auto Glass Safety Council Seeks Items for Auto Glass Week Silent Auction

The Auto Glass Safety Council (formerly the AGRSS Council Inc.) is inviting members of the auto glass community to donate items of value to be auctioned off at the Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC) Silent Auction at Auto Glass Week. The auction will be taking place Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Welcoming Cocktail Party.

Connecticut Right to Choose Amendment Passed by House; Moves Forward to Senate

A Connecticut amendment to an auto glass-related bill has passed the House of Representatives and is currently in the Senate awaiting the floor. The amendment adds language to bill 5231 that must be read by insurance companies and third-party administrators (TPA) to customers advising them of their right to choose their auto glass shop. The amendment also makes it illegal for the insurance company or TPA to provide the customer with the name of or direct the customer to a glass shop that is owned by the claims administrator or the same parent company that owns the insurance company or TPA.

Auto Glass Shop Sues Arbella Mutual Insurance Company for Failure to Pay

Village Glassmith, located in Wellesley Hills, Mass., filed a suit in Massachusetts against Arbella Mutual Insurance Company for failure to pay the auto glass shop’s invoices in October 2010. Donald Cotton, owner of the business, claims that a contract existed between his shop and the insurance company due to the assignment of rights.

Glass Doctor Preparing Technicians for Competition at Auto Glass Week

As the Auto Glass Week event in Louisville, Ky., approaches many companies are preparing technicians for the auto glass repair and replacement competitions. Glass Doctor is holding four preliminary feeder competitions across the company to ultimately choose two technicians to represent the company in the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Olympics taking place September 21-22, 2012 in Louisville, Ky.

NSG Group Appoints New Executive VP; Divides Automotive Business Units into AGR, OE

The Japan-based NSG Group has appointed Keiji Yoshikawa as its representative executive officer, executive vice president of the company, and chief project management officer. In addition, the company has divided its automotive business unit into two strategic business units (SBUs): the auto glass replacement (AGR) and original-equipment (OE).

Allstate "Guarantees" Claims Service with New Program

Allstate Insurance has introduced a new program called the “Claim Satisfaction Guarantee,” through which company officials say policyholders who are unhappy with the company’s auto claims service will receive a credit on their auto policies.

The purchase of the Auto Windscreens brand and some of its assets by Trifords Limited, part of the Markerstudy Group, will create 250 new jobs at the newly revived company, according to a statement from the United Kingdom (UK)-based Markerstudy Group.
